Ohio Field Days

As summer progresses, not only do the crops grow, but also the Ohio Field Days multiply. Here are some field days coming up.


July 22: Maria Stein, Ohio, Manure Science Review, 9 AM–3:30 PM

The event focused on the latest research, technologies, and best practices in manure management and water quality. Hosted at Homan, Inc., 6915 Olding Road, Maria Stein, Ohio.

Topics: Comparisons between manure and commercial fertilizer, nutrient best management practices, updates on water quality and Lake Erie, H2Ohio initiatives from the Ohio Department of Agriculture.

August 5: Allen Dean Farm, Soil Health Field Day, ½ Mile North of RT 6 on CR 13, Bryan, Ohio 43506. 1 PM–8 PM with a Gourmet Meal. $25 per person. Call or text Shelley: 419-533-6844.

Speakers are Dr. Elizabeth Rieke on Soil Microbiome and Brain Rath, Soil Health Institute.

Speakers include Dr. John Fulton, OSU Ag Engineer. Topics include Horsch planters, 360 Rain, Yetter, Precision Planting.

August 18: Ohio State University Wooster OARDC (Shisler Center Ballroom), 1680 Madison Avenue, Wooster, Ohio 44691. Fee is $20. Register at Ohionotillcouncil.com.

Topics are Decades of No-till History, Research, and Future of Soil Health. 9 AM–3:30 PM. Speakers are Dr. Warren Dick, Retired OSU Professor.

Other topics: Planting Green, Farmer Panel, History of Morrow Plots (Illinois) and OSU No-till Research.

August 27: Cover Crops for Soil Health Field Day, 5:30–7 PM. At the Bird Agronomics (Cody Beacom) cover crop facility, 8699 South Dixie Highway, Building 1, Rudolph, Ohio (South of Bowling Green off I-75). Call 419-354-5517 Ext. 4 to register.

September 1st: West Central Cover Crop Field Day, Benjamin Local Schools Land Lab near 6609 ST Rt 47E, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. 5–9 PM. $20 Fee includes Dinner. Call 937-599-4227 to register.

Speakers are Mike Wattercutter and Tim Lyden, Farmer. Topics are getting stated with cover crops, advanced cover crop topics, how to use cover crops to deal with weather extremes, and soil health topics.

September 3rd: Soil Health and Cover Crops, Fred Yoder Farm, 2050 Butler Avenue, Plain City, Ohio 43064. 9 AM–2 PM. Fee is $20 and includes lunch. Register at Ohionotillcouncil.com.

Topics include water management, cover crops, and Jim Moseley Former, Deputy Secretary of USDA talking about AG Issues.

September 3rd: MVP Dairy Soil Health Field Day, 7124 US RT 33, Celina, Ohio 45822.

Two programs. FFA students Soil Health topics and Soil Judging Pits 8:30 AM–1 PM. Then in the evening, 4:30–6:30 PM Soil Health for Farmers.

Topics are soil pits, rainfall simulator, soil health demonstrations, farmer panel, and Hot Ag topics.

Other events a little farther out include the Ohio No-till Council Conference on December 2nd, 2026 at Der Dutchman Restaurant, Plain City from 9 AM–3 PM. Amish Buffet lunch.

March 9–10th, 2027: Conservation Tillage and Technology Conference, Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio.

Two full days of four concurrent educational topics on agriculture including two days of soil health and cover crop presentations in the Chapel. CCA credits are available and lots of exhibitors, farmers, industry, and government agency people to discuss everything about agriculture.
